If you would allow me to describe Manila Fame in one word, “AMAZING” wouldn’t be even enough. It has been part of my semi-annual attend the summer and holiday schedule of Manila Fame, just as I also regularly attend PFW twice a year.
This is me, accidentally pressing my iphone cam. Candid shots are really awesome!:) I love this accidental wind effect look.
Of course, the best buddy to go with on Filipino themed bazaars like this is no other than my Jacinto & Lirio business partner, Noreen!
Thank you to Tita Remy for giving us free entrance tickets!:)
I super love their theme this year: “the art of the craftsman”. Here they actually showcased Pinoy craftsmen, who work with local materials like rattan, buri, tinalak, bamboo, abaca, shelland paper-mache furniture, and other furnishings that are uniquely Filipino.
Can you believe that this vest is made out of wood bark?
Apart from this, there were live demonstrations by artisans of Philippine traditional crafts too.
The process of making embroidered lace of Iloilo is so tedious!

I don’t have much photos of the world class furniture in the first floor of the exhibit because picture taking wasn’t allowed 😦 Good thing they were not so strict in the fashion area.
Philippine made doesn’t necessarily equate to handicrafts. I’m so excited to share to you some of the designs of the Philippine’s top fashion designers who was not only given a free booth to exhibit their works, but was also paid to participate!
One of the lucky picks was Dante, the winner of Weaving the Future: a social design competition. I’m so honored to be wearing for 10 seconds a necklace he designed for the Manila Fame exhibit!:)
Below is a bag also designed by Dante. If you will look at it closely, it actually has elements of Flora and Fauna, which was the design theme given to all designers to display in the exhibit. Dante’s design is so intricate that you wouldn’t notice that it actually has those elements like fish, flower etc.
This spider web design was manually sewn by Dante!:)
Here is the rendition of Flora and Fauna by the other designers:

SOFA really never fails to catch my attention with it’s eye-catching visual merchandising.
Lastly, for the very first time, OTOP products was also found in the exhibit. Like the designers, they were also paid to participate here. One of the things that caught my eye was this clutch which was made out of paper!
After the exhibit, Mhykee and I went to play badminton with his college friend, Reigh.

One of the perks of studying in a fashion school is that you get first access to fashion show invites, especially shows by school alumna.
I don’t know why but I didn’t receive the email invite this around. Good thing at the last minute, my Slims teacher, Ma’am Li-j was generous enough to give her own ticket to me! 🙂 (Thanks again Ms. Li-jjjj!!) 😀
This is me and Mhykee waiting in line.
For the second time around, I got to watch our Dubai-based alumni designers Albert Andrada and Ezra Santos who presented their 2013 Spring/Summer collections at the Philippine Fashion Week last October at the SMX Convention Center.
His collection was inspired byAntoni Gaudi’s architecture with pastel colors that reminds everyone of spring ( and reminded me of EMBELLISH!)
The collection of Andrada was inspired by the Monet painting “Morning at Etretat” which was seen in the designer’s use of Chantilly lace, silk, tulle, crepe, and chiffon.
I super love this gorgeous black gown!
I got used to watching collections from atleast four designers in one show, so I felt so “bitin.”

Last Sunday, October 28, 2012, Jubilee Evangelical Church held its annual medical mission. Every year, a rotation is done within Pasig City, Marikina City, and Rizal City, and this year, the medical mission was held in Rizal High School, Pasig City.
Anne volunteered in the weighing area, while I (Michelle) volunteered for children’s evangelism.
It was my second time working in children’s evangelism. The first time I tried (2 years ago), it was horrible. I came so unequipped and so nervous. For the first group I handled, I fumbled through a story book about how hardworking ants were. I ended up finishing after just 3 minutes, leaving the kids confused and probably thinking that this children’s evangelism part was useless. It was a good thing that Ate Elsie from a group of child evangelists saw me struggling and helped me. She gave me a wordless book and taught me how to share the Gospel to kids. 🙂 I sat in with her in the next 2 groups that came, and after that I was on my own.
So the second time around, I was feeling more confident. This was my chance to fulfill my role in the Great Commission, after all. I practiced sharing the Gospel to one of my mentors, Achi Trixie, I prayed really hard and asked for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit as I shared the Gospel. There was nothing to hinder me from sharing the Gospel effectively and finally taking part in spreading the Gospel!
As it happened, everything went smoothly. I got to share the Gospel to 16 children, of whom almost all were attentive (save for 1 baby). I was supposed to feel great right? I mean, I took part in spreading the Gospel, but somehow, the satisfaction that everyone was telling me about in sharing the Gospel wasn’t there.
The next day, I finally found out where I went wrong. I joined my mom’s cell group, and the topic for that night was Cat and Dog theology.
Basically, 2 principles sum up the concept of Cat and Dog Theology.
A cat says, “You pet me, you feed me, you shelter me, you love me, I must be God.”
A dog says, “You pet me, you feed me, you shelter me, you love me, you must be God.”
In terms of service, cats work for what they gain, dogs work for what they can give. I realized that my mindset as I prepared to share the Gospel to kids last Sunday was a spot-on example of having a cat mentality (and I’m not even a fan of cats!)
A note though, cat theology isn’t necessarily wrong. In terms of service, it’s not wrong to expect this joy after serving, but the main purpose of someone who serves is to glorify God.
Last Monday’s cell group topic was just a super-poke from God. I was reminded of the main purpose of being a Christian–to glorify God. 🙂
Here are the kids I shared the Gospel to. 🙂 I’m looking forward to next year’s medical mission! I thank God that I’m learning new lessons every year. 🙂

I wasn’t really planning on having outfit shots today because I didn’t really expect to see Pattrick, but it so happened that Pattrick and John had to go gift shopping so I took them to Embellish to shop!
Today was special. Usually, I’m the one who asks Pattrick to take my photos, but this time, Pattrick was the eager one who wanted to take my photos, because he loves it when I wear blouses, and consequently, I’m starting to love wearing blouses myself. 😛 Blouses ooze sophistication and class, and they look empowering and sexy. 😉
I HAVE A DIMPLE IN THIS PICTURE! 😀
I had to pair my blouse with a colorful necklace, otherwise it would look too plain and old. I love the old, used denim texture of my blouse! It’s so laid back, and it was just right for what I was feeling that day. 🙂

I bought these shorts the other day at Una Rosa (I LOVE THEIR SHORTS) and I couldn’t wait to try them out! 🙂 Needless to say, my new shorts DID NOT DISAPPOINT! 🙂
I love this little belt loop detail. 🙂 Gives it so much OOMPH!

This belt adds a little bit more color! 🙂

Please don’t mind the weird position of my little toe in this picture. I’m not really sure how that happened. Hahaha! 😛
I think you’ve noticed that I’ve been wearing these wedges a lot for the past few posts. I just love these wedges! They’re so comfy and classy! 🙂

SUPER THANK YOU! 🙂
After work, I was supposed to end my day by attending a talk on how to win our government for Christ in business transactions like permits, BIR, VAT, etc. Just when I arrived there, Mhykee, who just came from a meeting with one of their most valued client, called to invite me for a celebration in Red Crab. I was very much interested to listen to what Niels Riconalla has to say about how we should handle the seemingly impossible-bribe free transactions with the Philippine government, but at the same time, Red Crab’s alimango is a taste of heaven that I just couldn’t resist.
BUT, who says I needed to miss one for the other? Thanks to mama’s ipad video, I was able to enjoy both worlds. (OMG! Hannah Montana LSS mode :p Why??? Why???)
Uncle Danny absolutely loves alimangos (it’s called alimango and not crab–later I’ll explain what’s the diff) from Red Crab alone. He wont eat one unless it’s from Red Crab. That’s how delicious alimangos from Red Crab are!
From the numerous times I’ve eaten in Red Crab (Thanks to Uncle Danny’s frequent visits from Bacolod to Manila hihihi), it was only that night that I noticed that they recently changed their signage and added “alimango house” at the bottom of their brand name.
Mhyke pointed out that it’s because there is no direct english to tagalog translation for big crabs. Crab refers to both the small and the big. Unlike shrimp which refers to small shrimps or “hipon” and prawn refers to the big ones or “sugpo”—New vocab learned for the day 🙂 Having a really smart boyfriend is really awesomeee!!! :):):)
My mom bought this floral wide legged pants for me months ago, but this is only the second time I’ve worn it simply because it got misplaced somewhere out there. So when our maid found it, I knew I had to wear it that day. Wearing print on print is FUN!:)

I have this fascination for things involving gardens and fairies. Part of the reason is how all my favorite books are written in a garden setting (or at least I imagined them to be) and they depict fairies with this innocent and mysterious charm.
Yesterday, I decided to wear a dress that embodied both. Its color and print embodied a really cute garden, and its chiffon texture and length embodied fairies! 🙂 I don’t normally wear dresses this short because I feel that my legs are emphasized when I wear short dresses, but maybe yesterday wasn’t such a normal day. 😉

Pattrick got all his grades already and he qualified as a University Scholar! (CONGRATULATIONS! :D) So he treated me with a yummy chocolate yogurt mochi! 🙂
By 4 pm, we had our Youth Cell Group meeting, and Pattrick and I finally got to taste all the cakes from Delicakes! 🙂 Here’s their White Choco Matcha Cake. Honestly, I’m not a big fan of white chocolate and matcha, but this cake got me questioning myself. Haha!
We splurged our group budget on two slices each of every Delicakes cake! 🙂 Yum yum. And hello fats. Haha! 😛
